Hi people!
I've had my chunky kinky twists in for exactly a month now which is a first for me. I don't usually have extensions in for more than three weeks and I'm still loving my do!
My stylist would be glad to know I might just make the two month mark...lol!
I washed my hair three days back. I was hoping to wash on the month mark but I couldn't wait....before you all send me to natural hair court, my hair and scalp has been kept clean using baby wipes biweekly. It did a pretty good job in keeping my hair free of buildup while preventing frizzies.
Here's how I washed my hair.
-I sectioned my hair into four.
-Then I made a shampoo by diluting African blacksoap in warm water. I've run out of my all time favorite poo, Aussie Moist and like most products in Nigeria, I can't find it anymore, so I'll be will be forced to go the no sulphate, no silicone and no paraben way by using all natural African black soap to shampoo my hair. I don't mind anyway because my hair loves that stuff.
- I applied the solution directly to my scalp, lathered it in with my finger tips and rinsed out with warm water. I repeated a second time using the rest of the solution to wash the twists in downward sweeping motion. My hair felt squeaky clean but a bit heavy. Not as much as wet yarn twists though!!!
- I blotted out excess water, then applied my NappyGirl to scalp and twists while hair was still damp. Then allowed to air dry in a top bun. #dazall
This hairstyle has been really gentle on my edges and I've been receiving more compliments from both sexes as it gets older!
My mum was a bit skeptical about the hair the first time she saw it but now she has really warmed up to it. I guess she has gotten used to it.
I love the fact that it's pretty low maintenance for now. I've not really had episodes of missing my hair which is something!!
As it got older and more flexible, I was able to change up my style as much as I wanted. I didn't take daily pictures of the hairstyles I rocked with my chunky twists so I decided to reproduce most of them for you all to see.
Here they are!
