STYLE OF THE WEEK: SIMPLE UPDO FOR BEGINNERS

By Hadassah Agbaps - December 15, 2016

Hi people, what's been on?

Today, I'll share a simple updo you can try whenever you are in a style rut.
All you need are:

- Short, Medium or Long hair. You can lightly blow it out or work with an old twistout.
- Some sort of flat twisting skill....you don't need to be perfect though....
- A pack of bobby pins
- 25-30 mins of your time.

How To...

The Bangs

- First section out a portion for your bangs in front...as much as you'd like.
- Make as many loose twists as you can. The looser the twists, the fuller your bangs will be. Then gather all the twists and pin to the side.
You can make adjustments until you are comfortable with how it looks.

The Sides

- Make 6 flat twists, 3 on each side of your head and loosely twist down to the ends.

The Middle.

- Make random circular sections in the middle...loosely twist ends only and pin ends down. You should have something like mini buns.
Pin the buns towards the middle in such a way that you won't see any scalp showing.

Then pin the twisted ends from your flat twists around the middle mini bunned section.

Viola and you are done!!!

You can smooth edges with any gel of your choice. I used Ecostyler crystal gel.

    1. Lol! Flat twisting is difficult if you have no idea how to start and if you are looking to get perfect flat twists. It's simple if you have some idea of flat twisting because you don't need to be perfect. Once you get the hang of it, it's actually faster than cornrows.
If cornrows are easier to put in or you can roll and tuck, that's still okay.
