Hi people, what's been on?
Today I'll be sharing my secret to easy breezy natural hair.
Let's take an example.
As Nigerians, most of us have fixed weaves of different textures. We've fixed straight weaves, wavy weaves, curly weaves, kinky weaves etc so in a way we are familiar with the textures.
Straight hair weave
Do you notice that
- if you don't brush your straight weave often, it gets tangled and matts?
- when you try to wash it, it sticks together so much that any attempt to comb it when it's soaking wet will lead to a lot of breaking and shedding.
- you can't easily brush it when wet?
Bohemian Curly weave
Do you notice that
-when you try brushing it daily, it gets tangled and bushy?
-when you wet it a little and finger detangle the curls pop nicely?
- when you wash it, if you wait until it's completely dry to detangle, you'll be greeted with matted dry hair.
-when you condition and comb through it with a wide tooth comb, the curls clump beautifully?
Do you realise you might be caring for your natural hair (Bohemian curly weave), the same way you were caring for your relaxed hair (straight weave)?
Can you see why you may be finding it difficult caring for your natural hair?
Here are tips to make it easy.
- Wash your hair with shampoo once a month. Cowash once a week or once in two weeks.
Cowash means using a conditioner to wash your hair.
Recommended products: VO5 conditioner, Tresemme conditioner.
- To avoid painful combing sections, never comb dry. Apply a leave in conditioner or simply spray with water before combing. speaking of combing, like the bohemian curly weave, natural hair should not be combed daily. Actually once is week is sufficient.
- Do not manipulate your hair too much. Leave it alone.
