SHORT WASH DAY ROUTINE FOR DRY, HIGH POROSITY NATURAL HAIR
TOP 5 STEPS TO KEEP YOUR NATURAL HAIR MOISTURISED FOR DAYS!!!
I tried Ambunu herbal shampoo for the first time.
If you've followed my blog, you already know OrganicLifePlus is where I get most of my natural oils and herbs.🙂
Sooooo.....#Ambunu,
1. Does it clean well?
To test the cleansing properties of this herb, I used it when my hair was loaded with products. If it washes off the buildup, then it's a good natural hair cleanser.
Well, watch to the end of this video and tell me what y'all think!😃
2. Is it easy to mix, apply and remove the leaves?.🍃🌿
Preparation is straightforward as shown in the video and rinsing it off from my hair was easy. It doesn't stick.
3. Is it gentle on hair?💆♀️
Compared to Indian soap nut/reetha (Another herbal poo), this shampoo has superb SLIP!
It's smoother than reetha so there's less chance of 'grating' and 'filing down' your hair strands.
4. Is it stressful to use?🥵
Mixing and application was very easy. Cleaning up afterwards not so much #lazynaturalista. However, I experimented with techniques and I think I've gotten the best way to use it with less mess (I'll share once it's perfect!)
5. Does it make washday quicker?🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Yes! My washday was 2 step. Shampoo and style.

Finding the right products to keep my oily, still acne prone skin moisturized used to be a challenge.
I think more emphasis is placed on moisturising products for dry/normal skin than oily skin. As a result, many moisturising products tend to be greasy and heavy. The lighter, even gel like formulas geared towards oily skin tend not to be moisturising enough.
Thanks to my current interest in Korean skincare routine, I found the solution to hydration in a simple key ingredient called hyaluronic acid. 💦
It's a naturally occurring molecule found in skin. It has the capacity of holding and retaining water molecules as much as 1000 times its size thus maintaining skin plumpness and moisture. It also plays a role in wound healing.
It's production decreases as we age. Thankfully, there are other ways to introduce this important ingredient.
Introducing hyaluronic acid into my skin care regimen is one of the best decisions I've taken. I wish I didn't wait until I hit the big three o to start!
If you're also into Korean skincare routine in Nigeria, it's a good idea to look for it in your skincare products
Do you use any Korean skincare products containing hyaluronic acid? If yes, what products are you using?
Hi people, what's been on?
I know, I know!
Why haven't I been blogging?
To be honest, I feel that you all know a lot about natural hair already so what else should I write about?!
I started a YouTube channel late last year to demonstrate many of the natural hair routines I blogged about in hopes that it would help those who prefer videos.
I've also been pretty up to date on Instagram so if you still enjoy natural hair content, you can join me there.
For my hair, I'm still natural....and nothing much will change in that department...lol.
I'm also still doing wash'n'gos.
You see this protective style called wash and go? It has helped me maintain my fine textured hair past waist length.
I usually don't stretch, pick or fluff my hair in a wash'n' go to reduce manipulation so my hair stays shrunken at around nape to slightly grazing my shoulders..and I'm perfectly fine with it.
My wash 'n' gos last between 3-4 weeks and a lot of ladies ask how I keep my hair moisturized and prevent the gel cast from flaking.
Well, one important tip that helps is using moisturisers that combine well with my styling gel.
Doing so makes it easy to layer on moisturisers on your wash'n'gos without the risk of flaking.
How do I know what works?
Well, these photos could explain it more....
Do you have the fear of happiness?🤔
Some of us are afraid of being truly happy because we are afraid of being unhappy.
We have a hard time accepting happiness because we are afraid of feeling low with sadness after feeling high with happiness.
We are afraid of the happiness ending and being sad again.
So instead of accepting happiness, we settle for just being okay.
'How are you?'
'I'm just okay o!'
We end up sabotaging ourselves by avoiding opportunities that can make us happy....instead choosing to settle for what makes us 'just okay'.
We also end up projecting this fear and suspicion of happiness on others.
' Surely, those smiling pictures on Instagram can't be real! There must be some sadness lurking somewhere'.
Our fear of happiness makes us envy those who are unafraid to express their happiness.
People's fear of our happiness makes us hide our own.
"Let me not look too happy so that someone won't give the evil eye or I won't trigger the attention of 'my village people'"
"Let me not show that I'm too happy so that someone won't think I'm being boastful, proud or flaunting my happiness in their faces."
When we learn to accept happiness for ourselves, it's very easy to embrace and accept happiness in other people. 🙂🙂🙂🙂
Do you think the fear of happiness is the reason for envy, comparison, discontent, lack of ambition?
Hi people, what's been on?
Around the ending of last year, I decided to stop blogging because I wasn't motivated to talk about haircare anymore. I means it's been 9 years of blogging about natural hair tips and I believed that everything that needed to be said had been said.
To challenge myself, I decided to start making videos. Given that I prefer communicating face to face or via text, this was a whole big step for me!
So, I abandoned the blog and focused on my YouTube, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms until I pondered one problem: Product Reviews!
How was I going to share detailed reviews about products I've tried out recently? How could I share product ingredients for those like me that are interested in knowing what goes onto our hair and skin?
Also, since I speak slowly, it may take a generation and a half to share every little observation I have about a product.
Then it hit me, I'm much more comfortable writing about this stuff....so here I am writing a product review!
If you've been following me recently, you'll already be used to seeing BelleStar Products on my feed and you've probably benefited from their generous giveaways!
I started using this Nigerian brand since 2019 and I'm so shocked at myself that I'm only writing the reviews now!
One reason is that I didn't want to review their haircare products in pieces. Another reason is I wanted to test out how the products would fare both in rainy season and dry harmattan season.
Well, that's been done and here's my review.
BelleStar is a Nigerian haircare and beauty brand. The brand's policy is to provide the best hair and skincare products using naturally sourced ingredients at an unbeatable affordable price. They currently offer more than 10 unique products suitable for African hair types, relaxed, texlaxed or natural. They also have a line up of products suitable for maintaining protective styles such as weaves, wigs, braids and extensions.
I've had tbe opportunity to try out all the products in their range which they kindly sent me.
Let's get right into the review
BelleStar
.
When BelleStar brand sent me the first bottle of the African Black Soap, my first questions were
Hi lovely people,
Happy New Year!
It's been a blessing to still be here inspite of how 2020 was for all of us!
It can only be grace!
I used to be that person who had her year planned out. I marked the success of each year by how much I've ticked off my bucket list.
Last year taught me or rather reminded me of something I knew but refused to acknowledge because I felt it was an excuse to not put in one's best.
'The race is not always to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor satisfaction to the wise,
Nor riches to the smart,
Nor grace to the learned.'
Ecclesiastes 9:11 MSG
No one predicted what 2020 will be like. Most of us had our carefully laid plans overturned....yet somehow, we overcame and landed in 2021.
It can only be God's Grace.
So, this year I'll to try to let go and let God more.
Hair wise, I'm not really doing anything new since I've got a routine that works well for me as a high porosity naturalista.
I'll probably explore more protective styling options which are work friendly.
As I get older, I find that I much prefer classic hairstyles that can be done in the shortest time possible.
Here's one of them....
If you're not so good at flat twists, you can just do chunky two strand twists in front and pin to the back.
